Anonymous: What are some alternatives to bras? My opinion of bras is that they are uncomfortable, hot, and unnatural feeling. I don't like my boobs feeling constrained, as well as the fact that I'm a feminist and don't see a point to wearing one. I wear size C36 but my boobs aren't very large. I was very comfortable going braless but my mom doesn't like it when I don't wear a bra. What should I do?

Clothing choices are really personal. And what works for some people just does not work for others.

Some people who do not like bras may wear tank tops with or without a built in lining, or they may wear sports bras, although since you say you do not like feeling “constrained” sports bras may not be a good option for you.

It is your body and you need to feel comfortable with it everyday. Figure out what works for you, and then perhaps you can discuss your feelings with your mother. She may have reasons for why she wears bras and may not understand why you dislike them. Hopefully, with some good communication she can see your point.
