    Hi torninpieces,

A pregnancy can occur anytime sperm are deposited directly onto the vaginal opening or inside of the vagina.

The chances of pregnancy depends on whether or not you and your partner practiced safer sex. If you and your partner used a condom and/or hormonal birth control then the chances of pregnancy are very low. If however, the penile-vaginal sex was unprotected—no condom or hormonal birth control was used—then the risk for pregnancy is high. There is also a very high risk for the transmission of STDs if a condom was not used.

You will have to wait until the day before your next period or if your period is late to take a pregnancy test. This is the most accurate time to take a pregnancy test. You can either take one at home or in a local clinic. You and your partner may want to visit the clinic to be tested for STDs.

You can find free or low-cost and confidential clinics near you here.

    I hope this helps.
