Anonymous: if you masturbate and then go to the doctor can they tell?

    Hi anon,

Nope, a doctor cannot tell by looking at you or looking at a person’s genitals whether they have masturbated. They also cannot tell if you’ve ever had sex or engaged in sexual behaviors with a partner.

    I hope this helps!

Not talking about sexual behaviors isn’t going to somehow magically stop teens from engaging in them or make them stay abstinent any longer! Teens need info, not ignorance. Reblog if you agree!

Anonymous: Hi I recently took a ept pregnancy test. The control window was a dark blue color. But the test showed a very faint negative. (It was a -/+ test not the line ones). Since it was so faint could that mean something? Like the test was defective?

    Hi anon,

You might want to call the help line for ept and they may be able to tell you if that test was defective or expired.

In the meantime, since you didn’t get a good reading, you may want to take another pregnancy test either at home or in a local clinic. You can find a local free or low-cost and confidential clinic near you here.

    I hope this helps.

Anonymous: is it normal for a girl to cramp in her butt area after she orgasms?

    Hi anon,

When someone is about to have an orgasm their body tenses up and the muscle get stiff, like when you flex. This can sometimes lead to a cramp. It can happen in the foot, the leg or the butt. It’s normal for this to happen occasionally especially during times when your muscles are tense. This can happen during an orgasm or during exercise for instance.

However, if this happens all the time you may want to see a doctor or health care provider. Cramping in muscles is mostly normal but it can be a sign of a vitamin or mineral deficiency or other health issues so seeing a medical professional can’t hurt.

    I hope this helps!

Anonymous: Also just to add the flow was light- medium. That's why I'm debating if I should take the test or not. I heard of ppl being pregnant nd having a period but isn't it more like spotting nd not an actual period? (2/2)

    Hi anon,

It looks like we only have the second half of this message not 1/2. So I can’t answer it completely, but I can say that having a period means someone is not pregnant. Someone cannot have their period and be pregnant. Some people may spot during pregnancy, but that is actually usually a sign that someone may have a miscarriage or lose the pregnancy. It’s not something that happens a lot.

If you are concerned about being pregnant, you can take a pregnancy test to find out for sure if you are pregnant. You can either take one at home or in a local free or low-cost and confidential clinic near you. Find a clinic here.

    I hope this helps.

Anonymous: I took my last placebo pill today, but I can't get my new pack of birth control pills until Sunday (6 days away). I am aware it will increase chance of pregnancy, but me and my boyfriend agreed no sex for at least a month. Will the effect of taking the pills a week late only make my next period come a little later?

    Hi anon,

We aren’t doctors at Sex, Etc. so it’s hard for us to say because this really depends on your pill and the combination of hormones in it, as well as other factors like your personal menstrual cycle. You should speak with the health care provider who prescribed your birth control.

You and your partner have decided to practice abstinence for a little while. But, missing a week of pills will increase the risk of pregnancy for a little while, so if you and your partner decide to have vaginal sex, you may want to consider using a back-up method of birth control, such as condoms. Condoms are 98-percent effective with perfect use at preventing pregnancy and are highly effective at preventing the transmission of STDs. You can learn how to use a condom here.

    I hope this helps.

stonerbecca: Do you have any good links about abstinence only vs. comprehensive sex ed programs? It's for a school project.

    Hi stonerbecca,

You might want to checkout the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the U.S. (SIECUS) or the Guttmacher Institute for information on abstinence-only-until-marriage programs and comprehensive sexuality education programs.

    I hope this helps!

Anonymous: can you get pregnant if a guy gets cum on his hand and then puts his fingers in the girl?

    Hi anon,

Yes, there is a risk for pregnancy if someone ejaculates on a hand and that hand and the semen is then pretty quickly placed directly onto the vaginal opening or inside of the vagina. A pregnancy can occur anytime sperm are deposited onto the vaginal opening or inside of the vagina.

    I hope this helps!

Anonymous: I frequently have discharge, but after losing my virginity today I've had an unusually large amount of it. Is this normal? And are there other things I should expect?

    Hi anon,

Discharge is normal and healthy. The vagina may be irritated if it the first time it’s been penetrated and that’s why there’s more discharge than normal for you. Or it just may be there is more discharge this time in your cycle than usual for you, that happens sometimes. If this persists, you have pain, burning or itching though you may want to see a doctor or another health care provider to make sure everything is OK.

    I hope this helps!

Anonymous: Is it possible to have an orgasm from Anal Sex? I know I could stimulate myself and my vulva while we are doing it in that position but can I orgasm from just the anal sex? Also, I know about using lube but if he doesnt wear a condom and ejaculates in me when we are having anal sex is there anything wrong with that? We are in a committed relationship and we both have been tested for stds so I am not worried about him not wearing a condom.

    Hi anon,

Every person is different and some may be able to orgasm during anal sex. Sometimes someone is so turned on and sexually aroused that they orgasm without actually touching the clitoris or vulva.

As for your question about not using a condom during anal sex. It is possible that semen can drip or spill from the anal opening on to the vulva. The anus and vaginal opening really aren’t that far apart on the body. In this case then, there would be a risk for pregnancy. A pregnancy can occur anytime sperm are deposited onto the vaginal opening or inside of the vagina.

    I hope this helps!
